RADLETT- Extension in Watling Street

About This Project

Extension in the rear portion of a densely built site, that presents a stretched form and a difference between street level and inner courtyard. Limits and obligations for this projects, implies also the lacking of street access, difference in levels, the prohibition to open windows toward other properties, absence of green plantings around, critical relashionship with building aside. The results of this issues configured a compressed extension articulated around two small focuses: ground floor garden, and the first floor closed terrace. The rooms of the house, instead of finding their natural facing towards the perimeter, are facing these two small open spaces, which are almost an extension of the space of the house, as the gardens themselves have no visual relationship with the exterior, but only with its interiors.
