SERMIG – BAR

About This Project

The bar located in the main building of Sermig, has always been a junction between different buildings of the complex and represents an important space where volunteers and visitors can take a break, talk, study and concentrate. For this reason, the access to this space had to be allowed at any time, even when the bar service was closed.

The room space is made flexible by a large sliding wall that allows two different configurations: when the bar is open, the counter and sales space is combined with dining area, while the wall is folded on one side and hides the compartment with vending machines, accessible from outside and separated from the bar. When the sale is closed, the wall is unfolded to hide the counter and open the connection between the compartment with machines and the area with tables. 

The bar is also usued as a shop to promote products, books and social activities by Sermig. The cupboards on the walls provide a wide showcase for the initiatives of the association.
