VILLA EXTENSION IN TUSCANY

About This Project

The opportunity to extend a single-family house located on the hills surrounding Monsummano Terme, led to imagine an extension intended as an autonomous architecture, defined by sharp lines, to identify an independent volume from the original building. Inside the house the extension joins the living space connecting the existing area with a new surface that offers privileged views towards the landscape. The perception of the extension as a belvedere surrounded by nature, is confirmed by the exterior terrace, protruding over the hillside.
The new construction is structured on two levels: at lower level is placed a car box, accessible trough the driveway ramp. At upper level the extension plays the main role of home entrance, trough the external staircase, and connects the existing kitchen space with a new dining area that enlarge the usable surface with a beautiful panorama.
Architecture of the extension is configured as a wide portal facing the hills: diagonal lines and splays of structural elements enhance the visual tension towards the nature around and the aim to frame evocative views.
